High refresh rate monitors have been popular for years, and many people recommend 144Hz displays for gaming. More recently, we've seen 240Hz creep into the esports scene. CS:GO pros, in particular I'm running csgo at 2100 fps and i was wondering if I should cap it or if I'm fine lol. Yeah, you're not running CS GO at 2100 fps. That's probably the menu. The maps already have their own caps. Yep, you called it. Just got my new PC so didnt go in game yet. Menu: 2100 fps Inferno and New Dust 2: 600 fps All other competative Maps: 800 fps
MajorTankz. • 4 yr. ago. A capped and constant 90fps feels better than a variable 90-110 fps. Not really especially when you have a variable refresh rate monitor. And unless if you're using RTSS (which adds input lag btw), whatever framerate limiter you're using probably doesn't guarantee constant frametimes anyway.
Depends on the cap and also on the game you play. I usually like to cap games (except CS GO) @ my monitor's refresh rate and enable GSYNC and VSYNC in-game. This assures minimal to no input lag. (144 HZ monitor) Capping the FPS to the monitor's refresh rate will also get rid of screen tearing.

If your fps can go from 200-290 fps with an uncapped and when it drops, you can "feel" the suttter more than normal 250 fps capped. You can't feel the stutter if your fps is high enough. And if it goes between 100 and 50 fps, the much bigger problem is the low value not the variance. Not really.
There are now two things left to do: Since Windows 10 may block/override your VSync settings you should disable that option: Right-click the CSGO.exe. Go to Compatibility. Check the box for Disable fullscreen optimizations. Also make sure you have VSync off in your NVidia Control Panel.
The game uses 1 core up to 100% and totally cores about 10%CPU temps are max 80 Degrees one the one corethe RTX 3080 TI uses about 40-50% usageGPU Temps are about 50 degreesall seen in MSI Afterburner. I have FPS in the 100-380 range on Inferno, so as low at in the 180 ish i would think- also ON LOW settings.

The higher you climb, the more competitive it gets. Top players optimize every single aspect of their play style wich includes cap or uncap FPS in CS:GO.
The author measured response times for various setups in one game — CS GO — and found that both FreeSync and G-sync introduce a considerable input lag if the frame rate is uncapped. Gsync + 240hz (238 fps cap) has 1ms more avg input lag vs vsync off with 480-1000 fps. That 1ms is negligible and is not going to matter even in competitive
// Cap FPS in game and on menu. // You can cap at 58 in game, but no lower unfortunately. // You will need to use a program like Dxtory to cap lower. // Menu FPS can be capped lower, but will cause mouse issues. fps_max 61 fps_max_menu 61 // These apparently effects performance, but not confirmed. r_drawtracers_firstperson 0 r_eyegloss 0 r CS:GO used to run at 60+ FPS on medium. Yesterday, when I fired up my CS:GO for the first time of the day, it suddenly starts to lag. it has max 40 FPS on low. I have did the following. Cleaned out the vents. Did a defrag. Cleaned the system w/ CCleaner. Validated the game's files. Updated the drivers (although the drivers were already up to date)

Open your Steam game library. Right-click Apex Legends. Open Properties. Go to Launch Options under General Properties. In Launch Options, type "+fps_max [FPS value]". Again, if you want to

I play CSGO Competitively and I'm wondering whether I should cap my fps or play with it uncapped. I've got a 60hz Samsung monitor. Should I cap it at 60 fps or 120 fps or just let it fluctuate from 0 - 300? Thank in advance! Best regards, Jonathan
